The Habits Of Happiness
A Weekend RETREAT
A Weekend RETREAT
Friday Afternoon Sept 11th - Sun Afternoon Sept 13
Option to extend to Monday July 13.
Doran House
35 Stanwell Ave, Stanwell Park.
This will be a great few days of
shared meals ( and cooking )
beach walks and swims,
whale watching,
snoozing,
meditation and quiet moments,
bush walks
cafes and coffees
shared films/DVD
HANG GLIDING from nearby cliffs
Brief reflection and meditation experiences are essential to this weekend and it is important and beneficial to share these with the energy of the whole group. Walks, meals, meditation and reflection times will be shared with the energy and friendship of the whole group which brings a strong and nurturing bonding to the whole weekend.
There will be a guided schedule and shared input to help put you in touch with your inner world of innate happiness.
We will consider some of the habits and actions that may be blocking your happiness, focus, passion and calm in daily life.
We will explore ways to calm the mind, rest the body and access the inner knowing and skills that can allow your natural happiness to arise.
In fact, if you've ever struggled with calming the mind and trying to meditate, YOU WILL GAIN SOME FOCUS ON THIS WEEKEND !
Meditation is simply a way to slow down and develop calm and peace. The techniques are very simple.....the benefits are amazing !
Bring your paints, pencils, note pads, sketch pads, camera, brushes, favourite book, journal or whatever may help you explore and express any unrealised hopes, passions, plans, dreams and the blocks in your way.
We'll end the retreat with some work on self defeating self defeating behaviours and motivation blocks to address. You'll have some clearer ideas of what might be some plans and actions you will want to work towards in the future and ways to action these.
There will be plenty of sessions and blocks of time devoted to exploring what happiness and blocks to your happiness.
There will be plenty of energetic activities such as walks, swims, beach activities, sand sculpture, indoor activities and films.
Alone, quiet time is encouraged if you feel the need to sneak off alone and sleep, read, walk, swim, lie on the beach and recharge. Otherwise we will keep the group together.
Whole group experiences or alone time are both encouraged as you find ways to rest and revive.
It's worth taking a few days off work or from your weekend routine for this 'Habits Of Happiness' weekend. Take a break from the city.
You'll feel refreshed and better able to cope with the pressures of life and have the chance to create, meditate and levitate !

Comfort reminders
To make this weekend a positive success I would ask that we keep the comfort and privacy and personal space of our fellow weekenders in mind.
We will endeavour to allow Guys to focus on their rest, reading, meditating, Journalling, creative projects. Give each other space and quiet.
We'll talk about the importance of silent times and minimal chatter. It is in silence that we can have the space we need to look at issues and changes in our life.
Guys on the retreat are looking for a quieter time, a reflective space so it is good to allow this. Chat sometimes. Be quiet at others. Don't FILL the time or space.
No phones or laptops etc in the dining areas. Common areas are for shared conversation. Use of these gadgets in your room or anywhere away from the shared table is best.
This is a no alcohol weekend. We will serve some wine with the Sat evening meal before the film screening.
This is a no television weekend ! We will, however, screen films on Sat night for all to enjoy.
Noise should be minimal after 10 pm and before 7 am.
Photography should only be with express permission of the subject if needed at all. Many guys DO NOT want their photo taken and certainly not shared.
Can we respect each other's personal tastes, differences and routines so we can celebrate the unique mix of guys attending.
Let's look for opportunities to be supportive and constructive and not allow ourselves to be critical in any way of those sharing the weekend with us.
We want all to feel comfortable, accepted, welcomed and valued.
